Your DNA Data and Reports

How It All Fits Together

Understanding your body starts with curiosity — and DNA testing offers one of the clearest ways to explore what’s happening beneath the surface.

Whether you already have DNA data, are exploring testing for the first time, or simply want to understand what it can reveal, this page explains how your genetic information can help you better understand your own body — and how it can make the insights, tools, and resources shared through Your Genes by Design even more personal and practical.

Your DNA data is the connection point.
It turns what you learn through the Your Genes by Design podcast, newsletter, and courses into something personal—helping you see how your own biology shapes energy, metabolism, and hormone balance after 45.

1. Start Where You Are

Every Your Genes by Design podcast episode, Substack article, free resource, and course is designed to help you understand how your body works — especially during midlife and beyond.

You don’t need DNA data to benefit from this information. But when you do have it, you’ll be able to connect what you’re learning to your own biology — how you metabolize nutrients, manage hormones, or respond to stress — and make sense of what your body is asking for.

DNA data simply adds another layer of clarity.

2. What DNA Data Actually Is

Most people who explore genomics use raw DNA data from a direct-to-consumer test such as 23andMe or AncestryDNA.

These tests analyze small sections of your genome (called single nucleotide polymorphisms, or SNPs).
When interpreted through an educational lens, this data can highlight natural tendencies — such as how your body metabolizes caffeine or estrogen, responds to inflammation, or utilizes certain vitamins and fats.

Important distinction:
Clinical genetic tests ordered by a doctor — such as BRCA, pharmacogenomic, or cancer-screening panels — are medical diagnostics and are not used for educational genomic interpretation.

3. If You Already Have Your DNA Data

If you’ve already tested through 23andMe or AncestryDNA, you can download your raw DNA data file and use it for educational interpretation through several compatible wellness platforms.

Some people also choose to test directly with companies that specialize in nutrigenomics and wellness genetics, which include their own DNA collection kits.

Popular options include:

Nutrition Genome – provides its own saliva test kit and a comprehensive nutrigenomic analysis that connects your genes to nutrition, detoxification, and lifestyle.

SelfDecode – accepts raw data uploads from 23andMe or AncestryDNA and also offers its own DNA test kit, providing wellness-focused reports and personalized insights.

Each platform presents information differently, but all can help you begin connecting your genetic blueprint to how your body feels and functions day to day.

4. Coming Soon: Educational Genomic Reports

In the near future, you’ll be able to request a personalized, educational genomic report directly through Inspired Living / Your Genes by Design.

These reports are being developed to help you apply everything you learn through:

  • The Your Genes by Design podcast
  • The Substack newsletter
  • Free guides and resources
  • And the full Your Genes by Design course series

Your DNA data will help personalize those lessons — turning general insights into something that fits you.

5. If You Don’t Have Your DNA Data Yet

You can still explore your biology through Your Genes by Design podcast, Substack newsletter and free resources.

Many women start learning first — then, once they understand what genes influence and why it matters, they decide to order a DNA test.

When you’re ready, 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or other platforms like Nutrition Genome and SelfDecode make it simple to access your data for future use.

6. How Your Data Is Protected

All current and future genomic education services follow strict privacy standards.

Your data will always be:

  • Used only for educational purposes
  • Never shared or stored long-term
  • Permanently deleted 30 days after report completion

For full details, see the Genetic Data Privacy & Disclaimer
page.
